Twenty Three and a half inches on May 7, 2007...

Back on February 7th I wrote a post about letting my hair grow. I want to enter the 2010 Taft Oildorado Pony Tail Contest. For the pony tail contest in 2005, there were quite a number of ladies with long hair and I decided then that I would not cut my hair, so that I could enter the 2010 contest. The contest will not start until January 1st of 2010, when it will be officially measured, but my hair has some growing to do and I need to find a special way to style my hair for the contest.

In 2005 there were entries for color of hair and pony tail styles. I will be able to enter for quite a few different hair colors! Brunette, red, and white. Or should I say red, white and brunette! Sometimes I pull it back and braid just the tail and other times I French braid to the nape of my neck and let the tail flow! I have also started wearing my hair wrapped around my head in braids like my grandmother used to wear hers...

Now my hair is 23 1/2" long and 27 1/2" when pulled straight! On February 7th it was 21 inches long. Okay, that is 2 1/2" in three months, at that rate it will grow 10 inches in one year. At this point I am shy 1/4 of an inch of the projected rate needed...10.25" a year. The next measuring will be on August 7th. When I was young, my mother told me that I needed to brush my hair 100 stokes a night, so I am going to start brushing my hair 100 strokes every night for the next three months to see if this will help!!!

Good luck with the 100 brush strokes Janey! I've heard about that too. I have long hair myself but it's not quite as long as yours!
